Coquille OR Real Estate and Information

Home > Communities > Coquille Real Estate

Coquille is a small town of around 3,800 residents, located on the Coquille River, which connects to the Pacific Ocean. The town is best known for its historic Victorian homes, its many parks and green spaces, its excellent freshwater fishing and its annual 1890s festival, held each June. Living in Coquille offers the quiet friendliness of small town life, while still being within a hour’s drive of big city amenities in Eugene.

Shopping and Dining

Though it’s a small town, Coquille still offers a number of interesting places to shop. Most of these are located along SR 42 and in the downtown area. Some of the most popular include Coquille Valley Produce and Deli, Bree’s Upscale Resale and Country Brides and City Ladies.

Coquille real estate owners need never go hungry. The city offers a myriad of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. Just a few of the local favorites include the Colonial Mexican Restaurant, the Coquille Broiler for casual American food and Hooked, a popular coffee shop. Of course, there are additional eateries along the coast and in nearby Eugene.

Parks and Recreation

One of the best things about owning Coquille real estate is the town’s nearness to a large number of parks and green spaces. The Coos County Parks Department operates six area parks with facilities that include hiking trails, picnic areas and campsites. One of the most popular is the 350-acre Laverne Park along the Coquille River. In addition, Coquille is just a short drive away from Pacific coast beaches, lighthouses and headlands as well as the 2,692-acre Siskiyou National Forest and the hiking and biking trails and rock climbing offered there.

Living

Coquille real estate runs the gamut from historic restored Victorian homes to mid-century ranch homes to traditional colonials to new construction. While most of the housing in Coquille consists of single family homes, there is a wide variety of architectural styles and price ranges available.

The median home value in Coquille is $150,500, less than the national average of $170,000 and quite a bit less than the state average of $237,335. However, the median value masks a wide range of prices. You can find home from less than $100,000 and carefully-restored Victorian mansions for $500,000 or more.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

Sons and daughters of Coquille real estate owners attend the schools of the Coquille School District. The district, which has an enrollment of around 860 students, owns and operates four schools-an elementary school, a junior/senior high school, an early learning school and Winter Lakes School, a virtual school for students in grades 3-12. The area is also home to several private schools, such as United Valley Christian Academy in Coquille. For higher education, the University of Oregon and Columbia College are located in nearby Eugene.

Coquille real estate owners don’t have to worry about access to quality health care. In addition to the usual selection of doctors, dentists and veterinarians, Coquille is home to Coquille Valley Hospital, a 25-bed acute care facility located on the east side of town. The hospital also has a 24-hour emergency room, a respiratory care center, a full-service laboratory and a medical imaging department. For more specialized care, McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center and Willamette Valley Cancer Institute are both located in nearby Eugene.

Given the town’s compact size, it’s easy to get around Coquille. The town sits right on SR 42, which connects Coquille to North Bend and the Pacific Coast Highway to the west and to Roseburg and I-5 to the east. For trips further afield, Mahlon Sweet Field in Eugene offers non-stop flights to more than a dozen destinations, including San Francisco, Denver and Phoenix.
