Parks and Recreation

North Bend, Oregon and nature are practically synonymous with an array of municipal, state, and federally protected parks, reserves, and sanctuaries.  Additionally, while Coos Bay is a major working commercial bay, there is plenty of room for kayaking, boasting, surfing, and a myriad of aquatic pastimes.  Indeed, Sunset Magazine has tapped nearby Horsfall Beach and the north spit, within in view of the historic MuCullough Bridge, as the Top 10 Beach Strolls in the Western United States.

Even more spectacular, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area begins in North Bend before stretching 40-miles to the confluence of the Siuslaw River in Florence, Oregon.  One look at these majestic 500-foot dunes will leave you breathless at their beauty, as well as providing numerous recreational activities including off road, hiking, and ATV experiences.

For a different kind of fun, North Bend hosts the annual South Coast Clambake and Jazz Festival each spring.  For more than a quarter of a century, North Bend real estate has been the site of threes days of music, dancing, great food, and fun for residents and visitors alike.

The North Bend School District #13 educates the town’s young scholars in their six educational facilities including two elementary, one middle school, an area high school, and two charter schools that are supervised by the district.  Continuing education, provided by the Southwestern Oregon Community College system, affords ready enrollment available for local students looking to pursue a two-year degree course.

Community health concerns are of no concern thanks to state-of-the-art medical facilities including the full services of Bay Area Hospital.  From medical services ranging from emergency care to innovative robotic surgery, the hospital’s thousand employees are committed to caring for their friends and neighbors.

A small community, North Bend has no public transportation network, but the walkable nature of North Bend real estate negates the need for one.  Striding U.S. Highway 101, the city is linked to the state’s main inland transportation artery, I-5, via a number of connecting state routes including state highways 42, 36, and 126.  Additionally, the town is the location of the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport.
